Understanding Your 4WD System
The Jimny uses a part-time 4WD system with a mechanical low-range transfer case — proper off-road hardware, not a “terrain mode” button.
| Mode | When to Use | Max Speed |
|---|---|---|
| 2H | Normal road driving. Rear wheels only. Best economy. | No limit |
| 4H | Loose, slippery surfaces at moderate speed. Gravel, wet grass, light mud. | ~80 km/h |
| 4L | Maximum traction — rock crawling, deep mud, steep climbs. Low speed only. | ~30 km/h |
Important: Never use 4WD modes on dry tarmac — the drivetrain will bind and damage components.
