Understanding Your 4WD System

The Jimny uses a part-time 4WD system with a mechanical low-range transfer case — proper off-road hardware, not a “terrain mode” button.

Mode	When to Use	Max Speed
2H	Normal road driving. Rear wheels only. Best economy.	No limit
4H	Loose, slippery surfaces at moderate speed. Gravel, wet grass, light mud.	~80 km/h
4L	Maximum traction — rock crawling, deep mud, steep climbs. Low speed only.	~30 km/h

Important: Never use 4WD modes on dry tarmac — the drivetrain will bind and damage components.
